Visitor Guidelines
We’re so excited that you’re planning on coming to visit us at Fruit Hill Orchard! Below, you’ll find our guidelines for all visitors, as well as some frequently asked questions to help you make the most of your visit!
Pick Your Own (PYO)
Please confirm pick your own availability prior to arriving.
We are expecting to have pick your own most* weekends through mid October*, but if you are looking for a specific variety, please check out our variety timeline under the apples category over on our products page. Or check out our facebook for most recent PYO updates. Always be sure to arrive by 5:30, as our orchards close for PYO 30 mins before the market closes at 6.
*Please note: Some years we have more varieties than others due to growing conditions in the Spring, and we occasionally get picked out due to large crowds in the Fall. Please make sure you visit our facebook or call ahead to ensure pick your own availability the day of your visit!
Ask an employee for directions before going out to pick!
Yes, even if you’ve been here before, you still need to speak with our employees before heading out to pick. They will help you select your bag size, tell you about the flavor profiles of each apple, and of course, give you directions to the varieties you’re interested in.
If you pick it- put it in your bag.
Please, if you pick any fruit, put it in your bag and don’t throw it on the ground! Our employees work very hard to keep the orchards clean of fallen fruit to avoid pest issues. Please be sure to look over the fruit before you decide to pick it! Parents- please watch your children to make sure they are not picking fruit just to throw it on the ground!
Personal Bags are prohibited in the orchards.
Unfortunately, we cannot allow you to bring your personal bags (totes, purses, backpacks, diaper bags, etc.) into the orchard. The only bags allowed in the orchards are our designated picking bags which you can find in the market. Our parking area is very close to the orchards, so you can leave your bags in your car while you pick.
Strollers, wagons, and dogs are allowed in the orchards.
Our orchards are relatively flat, so strollers and wagons are easy to maneuver. We have a limited number of wagons available to use free of charge. Well behaved, friendly, on leash dogs are allowed in the orchards- as long as you clean up after them! But please be mindful of your surroundings! If the market looks especially crowded, maybe leave one member of your group out on the porch with your furry friends.
Only Pick in the areas you are instructed to.
Certain varieties ripen at different times. Our orchard rows are well marked. If you choose to ignore the directions of our employees and pick over or under ripe varieties, you will still be charged for the fruit you picked. NEVER pick any fruit marked off with surveyor’s tape.
Pricing can be found on our FAQ page. There is no admission fee, parking fee, or extra picking fee
Other Important Guidelines
Respect your surroundings.
Even though we strive to be a place where you and your family can relax and hang out, we are still a working farm. You must follow all employee instruction and signage at all times. That includes not parking in our no parking zones (tractors need to get in and out!), respecting no trespassing and private property signs, and listening to where our employees say to pick!
No climbing or shaking the apple trees!
Not only is this dangerous for you, it’s also very harmful for the trees. Please respect the trees by not climbing, or shaking them.
Absolutely No Trespassing after hours.
We are open Monday-Saturday 10-6. If you enter the property any time not during that window, you are trespassing. All of our grounds (flower garden, market, orchards, pumpkin patch, etc.) are private property and are open to the public during business hours only. Unfortunately we’ve had too many instances of people not respecting that rule to have any leniency.
Parents - watch your children!
We know you’re here to have fun, but please, make sure your children are following the rules! Our rules are there to make sure everyone stays safe and has a fun time. Please keep a close eye on your kids, especially in the orchards and in the pumpkin patch.
Failure to follow these guidelines will result in you being asked to leave.
