If you’ve been following us on Facebook and Instagram this past year, you’ve probably seen some of our popular #TerryTalks videos! Terry is one of the owners of Fruit Hill, and he’s full of valuable farming knowledge that he loves to share! If you were a fan of the Terry Talks and want to learn more about some of Terry’s favorite topics, check out the classes below! Each class will take place in person at our Apple Barn in Palmyra, Va. Terry Talks: Pruning

A two hour workshop where you can get hands on experience on how to best prune your fruit trees. Terry will walk you through how to decide the proper shape and form for your trees and will teach you how to properly prune peach and apple trees.

Please dress warm, as this class takes place out in our orchards. Please bring your own pair of clippers or pruning shears! This event will take place on January 21st starting at 10am. If it is raining that day, the class will be postponed to January 28th. The class is expected to be between 1.5-2 hours and will be limited to 20 people.

Terry Talks: Grafting

Did you know that apple trees aren't grown from seed, but from clippings?

In this introduction to grafting class, you will learn how to create apple trees using root stock and apple tree clippings. We will provide the root stock and the tree clippings, and you'll get to bring home 2-3 ready to plant apple trees! Terry will also walk you through how to plant and care for your trees during the first year of growth.

This class will last approximately 2 hours. It will take place on March 4th, 2023 at 10am. Please dress warm, as it will take place in our apple barn. Bring a pair of pruning shears if you have them!

Terry Talks: Beekeeping

An in depth, 3.5-4 hour seminar on beekeeping! This class is meant for beginning bee keepers who are looking to get started! Terry will walk you through the basics of how to care for and maintain your first hives. He will also show you the basic tools required for keeping bees and pulling honey. Limited to 10 participants.

The class will take place in the Apple Shed at Fruit Hill Orchard at 2745 Thomas Jefferson Parkway in Palmyra, Va. It will start at 9am on April 15th, 2023. Please dress according to the weather as this event will take place in our apple barn.
