About Us

Fruit Hill Orchard ShopMy family has been in the orchard business for five generations. It all began in Winchester, Virginia; where my grandfather, Robert Solenberger, still grows large quantities of apples for commercial processing.

In 2000, my grandfather decided that he wanted his grandchildren to learn about the family business. He asked if he could plant “a few” apple trees on my parent’s farm in Fluvanna County. My granddad’s idea of “a few” was very different from what my parent’s had in mind.  Granddad showed up at our house with 900 apple trees, and within a few days, we had an apple orchard in our front field! My parent’s embraced their new circumstances, and have since expanded the operation to include a second orchard in 2007,  as well as all sorts of home grown produce.

32471_131661253516216_2096032_nThe purpose of our orchard is to provide a place for families to come and spend time together in a wholesome environment.  It is our desire to give people (especially children) a real understanding of where their food comes from.  Apples come from trees not grocery stores!

We feel extremely blessed to be able to share our passion with the community and we hope that you will come and join us for a day of apple picking!
